Our Story

Created by two neighbors, career coaches & work-life balance champions.

It all started on a morning walk in Kennebunk, Maine, when next door neighbors (and fellow breast cancer survivors) Anush Hansen and Sarah Kelly were chatting about the challenges of managing young kids and their busy careers, while also trying to carve out time to take care of their own self-care, well-being, and balance. 

Anush, a licensed mental health counselor and career coach, and Founder of Balanced Card Sorts, was telling Sarah about the card sort tools she'd developed that were being used in schools and businesses to help students and employees prioritize their mental health, well-being, and work-life balance.

"You should create a retail deck," Sarah suggested. "something that everyone can use..." And the rest is history!

Sarah, a career and leadership coach and Owner of Changing Tides Coach, had spent 20 years leading sales and marketing teams in the tech field, and had previously built a six-figure wellness retail brand. Sarah was looking for a new adventure that blended her marketing expertise with her passion for helping people build happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives. 

After a few more walking meetings, they both dove into the project, adapting Anush's existing Work-Life Balance Assessment to design a simple, beautiful, and engaging card deck that can be self-administered by anyone looking to clarify and establish their work-life balance priorities and goals, and build the career and life they want.
